The Valais-based start-up DePoly, named Switzerland’s most innovative start-up last year, says it has already secured CHF 50 million worth of contracts for its plastic chemical recycling business. These contracts will be fulfilled once DePoly inaugurates its new factory, which is set to open in Monthey this summer.
Supported since its early days by The Ark Foundation and Economic Promotion Valais’ partners, DePoly has reached an important milestone. The Valais-based start-up, specialised in PET and polyester chemical recycling has secured CHF 50 million worth of commercial contracts, even before the official opening of its demonstration plant. A strong validation for the company, which has featured the Top 100 Swiss Startups every year since 2020 through 2025.
A Swiss first, in Monthey
The Monthey plant is in its final phase of construction. It is scheduled to come online this summer, with ramp up expected in autumn. This site will be the first plastic monomer recycling facility in Switzerland, able to process up to 500 metric tons of PET and polyester per year. The materials processed come from textile waste and post-consumer or post-industrial packaging, including unsorted and mixed waste.
The CHF 50 million worth of contracts come from international clients, across the European Union and Japan, in sectors including packaging, bottles, plastic films and specialty polymers. A sign that DePoly’s technology is meeting growing global demand for efficient recycling solutions.
