DePoly, a Swiss CleanTech startup which specializes in advanced recycling of PET/Polyester plastics, announced being named in the 2024 edition of the Technology Pioneers by the World Economic Forum.
DePoly has pioneered an innovative solution to tackle the PET plastic challenge the world is facing today. Through its technology, PET plastics are broken down back to their raw monomers, known as Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG). The process yields a product of virgin-grade quality, identical to oil-based counterparts. The PTA can then be used to produce recycled PET products, reducing the need for oil extraction to produce new plastic.
The Innovator Communities are a group of the world’s most promising start-ups and scale-ups at the forefront of technological and business model innovation. Comprising three subcommunities – the Technology Pioneers, Global Innovators and Unicorns – the Innovator Communities accompany start-ups along their growth journey. The World Economic Forum provides the sub-communities with a platform to engage with public- and private-sector leaders and to contribute new solutions to overcome current crises and build future resiliency.
Companies invited to join the Innovator Communities will engage with one or more of the Forum’s centers, as relevant, to help define the global agenda on critical issues.
“We are thrilled to be named alongside this year’s cohort of Technology Pioneers by the World Economic Forum. This program will enable us to further develop our network, key partnerships and work hand in hand within our community center towards a better future for the generations to come.”
