The Idiap Research Institute, based in Martigny, is a world-renowned centre for artificial intelligence (AI). Since its foundation in 1991, it has become a pioneer in AI and machine learning, producing a number of research projects and innovative technologies. Idiap researchers have produced a vast range of innovations in the field of AI, in particular in voice recognition technologies, machine learning algorithms, computer vision and natural language processing. They also play a key role in the development of neural networks for voice recognition, which led to the creation of the virtual assistants we use today.
