The industrial SME Muller Technology has been acquired by the Indian group Vasantha

The Vasantha Group, a world leader in the manufacture of precision injection moulds and high-quality automation systems, has just announced the acquisition of Muller Technology Conthey SA, headquartered in Conthey. This merger establishes the Vasantha Group as a leading global player in the field of plastic injection moulding and automation. Muller Technology’s production sites will remain in place, as will the name of the Valais-based company.

Muller Technology has been established in the plastic packaging industry since 1959 – and is recognised as a leading supplier of in-mould labelling (IML) automation, thin-walled packaging, precision mould design and fully integrated automation lines.

With over 100 employees spread across approximately 8,050 m² of production space and a global installed base of more than 2,500 automation systems, Muller Technology significantly strengthens the Vasantha Group’s market position, enriches its technology portfolio and offers direct access to a solid customer base established in Europe, North America and beyond. “The portfolios of Muller and the Vasantha Group are a perfect strategic fit,” emphasises Marco Marconi, Commercial Director of the Muller Technology Group.

Muller Technology: a strategic addition to IML

This acquisition creates one of the most comprehensive value chains in the global plastics manufacturing industry. The Vasantha Group, headquartered in Hyderabad – with its subsidiaries VTW GmbH (Austria) and SAVYA Automation GmbH (Austria) – specialises in multi-cavity injection moulds for pharmaceutical, medical and packaging applications, as well as in automation solutions for assembly and testing systems.

Muller Technology complements this portfolio with automation solutions dedicated to IML: IML robots, high-speed unloading systems, stackers, case packers, palletisers, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and vision inspection systems.

Continuity for customers and employees

When it comes to tool manufacturing, the Conthey site complements Vasantha’s sites in India and Austria perfectly: despite different end applications – thin-walled packaging at Muller Technology, complex high-cavity moulds at Vasantha – the underlying manufacturing processes are virtually identical. This creates immediate opportunities for global capacity sharing and a reduction in external procurement.

Muller Technology will continue to operate under its current name, with Carsten Eisenkrämer retaining his position as Group CEO. The two production sites in Switzerland and Colorado will remain fully operational. Thanks to synergies between the two automation divisions, a joint global team will be formed, sharing expertise and capabilities across all sites.

“Vasantha and Muller will create a global centre of excellence dedicated to integrated moulds and automation systems – present on three continents, close to our customers and offering product ranges tailored to their needs. I look forward to our shared future with Vasantha!”, Carsten Eisenkrämer, CEO of the Muller Technology Group.
