Activity Report

2024

We have the great pleasure to introduce the Economic Promotion Valais’ activity report for 2024. Once again, the economy of Valais proved its remarkable capacity of adaptation towards challenges and opportunities. Despite a complex international context and striking climatic events, it noted a growth superior to that of other cantons.

This rise comes from the strong commitment of the canton and from the great resilience of our enterprises, that knew how to adapt and innovate. These results are more than promising and prove the dynamism and solidity of the economic fabric of Valais.

Loyal to its evolutive approach, Economic Promotion Valais proposes this year its report in a dynamic, online only form, in harmony with the new visual shift taken by our entity. This page highlights the principal activities led by Economic Promotion Valais to economically develop our canton.

We hope you will find this report insightful!

Support to enterprises

Administrative support to enterprises

In Valais, any company can benefit from services of support and assistance, without costs. Thanks to its different partners, Economic Promotion Valais supports projects of enterprises, local or not. Depending on the sector of activity and on the development stage, it guides entrepreneurs towards business partners or state offices, to enable the achievement of projects of economic importance, while respecting legal requirements and environmental norms.

Economic Promotion Valais is the key-partner for entrepreneurs looking to innovate, develop or invest themselves in the regional economic fabric.

Support to mountain professions

The Office of economy, tourism and innovation also supports mountain professions. In line with its strategy of digitising customer services, the Office offers an intuitive platform that allows them to obtain authorisations to practice, compulsory to their activity. This platform, MontagnePro, has been updated in 2024 to save time and guarantee the protection of data to its users. Thanks to this platform and to the cantonal Commission for mountain guides and organisers of other high-risk activities, it is easier to ensure compliance with the law.

To this day, 2,755 authorisations have been delivered, and 127 ski schools and guide offices obtained their authorisations to manage.

Regional Development

Each year, the Helvetic Confederation and the State of Valais offer fundings to boost the cantonal economy and enhance the regional attractivity.

Within the scope of the New Regional Policy (NRP), the canton of Valais and the Confederation spend each year several million francs. To each franc spent by the canton, the equivalent is also spent by the Confederation, according to the system of financial equalisation.

The canton also works alone to support the following infrastructures:

  • Ski lifts, thanks to the LERM (Law on encouragement for ski lifts)
  • Most of the touristic establishments
  • Industrial infrastructures
