Idiap Research Institute: a pioneer of artificial intelligence

The Idiap Research Institute, based in Martigny, is a world-renowned centre for artificial intelligence (AI). Since its foundation in 1991, it has become a pioneer in AI and machine learning, producing a number of research projects and innovative technologies. The Greater Geneva Bern Area (GGBa) invites you to watch the following interview with Joël Dumoulin, Technology Transfer Officer, to discover more about this institute.

Idiap researchers have produced a vast range of innovations in the field of AI, in particular in voice recognition technologies, machine learning algorithms, computer vision and natural language processing. They also play a key role in the development of neural networks for voice recognition, which led to the creation of the virtual assistants we use today.

Making Valais a centre for technology and innovation

Idiap attracts high-calibre researchers from across the world, bringing talent and expertise to the region and helping to make Valais a hub of technology and innovation. The Institute is also committed to community awareness and education, organising seminars and workshops for students and local researchers and establishing partnerships with local schools and universities to support the development of teaching technical sciences in the region.
